Benchmark indices end flat on Thursday in highly volatile session

Benchmark indices ended at fresh record highs on Thursday following gains in metal and FMCG shares amid firm global trends and foreign fund inflows. In a highly volatile trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 33 points to close at 74,119. NSE Nifty-50 settled 19.5 points up at 22,494.

In the forex market, the Indian rupee today ended at 82 rupees and 79 paise against the US dollar.

Gold prices, at Multi Commodity Exchange for April contracts, were trading at 65,358 rupees per 10 gram. Silver prices were trading at 74,132 rupees per kilogram for May contracts when reports last came in.

In intra-day trade, Brent crude was trading at 82 dollars and 61 cents per barrel, when reports last came in.
