The Defence Public Sector Undertaking Bharat Earth Movers Limited, BEML has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU ) with Obrum Company of Poland to jointly design and develop futuristic main battle tanks for the Indian Army.<br/><br/>The tanks will be lighter, faster and transportable through helicopters.Briefing reporters, BEML Chairman and Managing Director VRS Natarajan said that the MoU signed during the Defence Expo in New Delhi, will also target the Army’s tenders for overhaul and upgrading of its vintage T-72 tanks that would be worth about Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 crore rupees. <br/><br/>He said that under the agreement, BEML and Obrum will jointly work on projects such as armoured recovery and repair vehicles for the indigenous Arjun tanks, auxiliary power unit for T-90s, armoured personnel carriers, 155-mm tracked guns and others.<br/>
