Belgium moved to the top of the FIFA world ranking list in football for the first time yesterday after overtaking Argentina and world champions Germany. This follows their victories in last month's European qualifiers. Chile moved up four places to fifth to also reach their highest position, while Austria improved one place to a best ever tenth place. Iran continued to top the rankings among AFC countries followed by Korea and Japan. India slipped five places to 172nd in the latest chart. India lost six ranking points after their defeat at the hands of Turkmenistan and Oman in their 2018 World Cup qualifiers last month and they now have 122 points.
