Beef row: Kerala govt condemns raid by Delhi police at Kerala House

The Kerala government condemned the beef raid at Kerala House in New Delhi, yesterday, with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy saying it was wrong on the part of the Delhi Police to raid a state-run guest house and they should have shown restraint. Chandy said in a meet the Press at Kozhikode. <br/><br/>The police should have followed the protocol, if there was a complaint, Kerala Chief Minister said. The Chief Minister also said that the state will take steps after getting the full details of the incident. Meanwhile, Kerala Home Minister Mr. Ramesh Chennithala said that the state will register its protest with the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung.<br/><br/><br/>Meanwhile, a group of MPs from Kerala today staged a protest outside the Kerala House against Delhi Police action. In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Chandy demanded stringent action against those responsible in the matter. Kerala Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson also categorically dismissed claims that beef curry was served at Kerala House. He said, a complaint has been lodged with the police over trespass of the premises by activists following the yesterday episode involving a call to police complaining about cow meat on the canteen menu.
