BDR mutiny trial to begin tomorrow

The trial of the Bangladesh Rifles personnel involved in the February mutiny at the Pilkhana headquarters will begin from tomorrow. Deputy Director General of BDR Brigadier General Md. Obaidul Haque told reporters in Dhaka that the first trial will start at the Special Court No-4 set up at the Rangamati BDR Sector headquarters. As per the BDR Act, Director General of BDR Major General Moinul Islam will head the courts comprising two other officers of the force. The government on November 15 had constituted six special courts for holding the trial under the BDR Act. Two of these courts are in Dhaka and four outside the capital. A total of 73 persons including 57 military officers along with the then DG BDR Major General Sakil Ahmed were killed and scores of others injured during the two day massacre in February this year. .
