In Bangladesh, the Rapid Action Battalion has arrested a Pakistan citizen living in Dhaka who is alleged to have links to the banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The spokesperson of the Rapid Action Battalion Mohammed Kamruzzaman told AIR that the twenty-five year old Mobassher Shahid, alias Mubin or Yahia, was arrested at around 11:30pm on Wednesday night in the capital's Chankharpul area. According to his passport record’s, Yahia was a Pakistan citizen and a resident of Karachi.

The RAB official also added that Yahia had entered Bangladesh on a business visa and claimed to be associated with a buying house. But Rab officials suspect that he is involved in collecting sensitive information for the LeT and also recruiting members for the banned outfit.

This is the second time that a person alleged to have links with LeT has been arrested in Bangladesh in the last six months.

Earlier in November last year, Bangladesh police arrested at least four suspected LeT operatives in Chittagong and Dhaka for allegedly plotting to attack the Indian High Commission and US embassy in Dhaka.
