B’desh police held JeI chief and two other

The Bangladesh police have arrested Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Matiur Rahman Nizami and two other top leaders Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed and Delwar Hossain Sayedee on charges of defying court orders in a case related to hurting of religious sentiments . According to police officials the Chief of Jamaat e Islami Nizami was arrested near the National Press Club in Dhaka while Secretary General Mojaheed was arrested in at Savar. The police arrested them following orders issued by a Dhaka court this morning as they failed to comply with the summons it had earlier issued asking them to appear before the court. Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan Talukder passed the order in the case filed in March this year by Syed Rejaul Haque Chandpuri, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Tarikat Federation alleging that the Jamaat leaders had hurt the religious sentiments of the people by comparing Nizami to Prophet Muhammad at one of their meetings.
