B’desh PM sought coop with all including US to tame terrorism

Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has sought cooperation from all, including the United States, to combat the menace of terrorism. She sought the cooperation when US Assistant Secretary of State Robert Blake called on her at Bangladesh Villa in SAARC Village in Thimphu. She said that terrorism has become a threat to peace and prosperity of the world, including the SAARC region adding that it is impossible to fight the menace alone. She also underscored the need of united efforts of the SAARC member countries to free the region from terrorism and extremism.Referring to the adverse impacts of climate change, Sheikh Hasina said, Maldives and Bangladesh will be the worst victims of it. She mentioned that people of the southern part of Bangladesh started to experience the pinch of climate change. Briefing the media, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Abul Kalam Azad said, the prime minister also informed that her government has taken steps to dredge rivers surrounding the capital to minimise the sufferings of people due to the changing climate. Mr Blake praised the leadership of Hasina during the Copenhagen climate conference and said her important role has been praised by the world leaders.
