B'desh PM Hasina urges people to work for building Sonar Bangla

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday urged the people to work towards building a Sonar Bangla by rising above petty personal, group and party interests to uphold the nation's hopes and aspirations. Addressing the nation on Bangladesh Televison and radio to mark the completion of one year in office, she said her government wants to establish a healthy and positive trend in the country's political process. Ms. Hasina urged the opposition to return to the Parliament to play its due role. <br/><br/>During her 45-minute speech highlighting the achievements of her government she said her government wants a self-reliant Bangladesh in food by 2012 and a plan has already been taken to make education free up to the degree level by 2013. <br/><br/>She also added that the government is taking steps to provide housing for all homeless people by 2015 and ensuring 7,000 megawatts of electricity by 2013. Earlier in the day the Prime minister lauched web portals for all the 64 districts in the country as part of the Digital Bangladesh programme of her government.
