Bangladesh High Court has dismissed a corruption case filed in 2001 against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina involving the purchase of MiG-29 warplanes during her previous tenure. <br/> <br/>The two judge bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Justice Borhan Uddin gave the ruling on a petition filed by Sheikh Hasina in 2008 challenging the case proceedings against her. <br/> <br/>The case was filed by the earlier Bureau of Anti- Corruption accusing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and six others of causing financial losses of 129 million US Dollars to the state in the purchase of eight Russian MiG-29 fighter planes during her previous term as Prime Minister from 1996-2001. <br/> <br/>The High Court ruled that there is no evidence of irregularities in the purchase of the warplanes and no legal validity to the case against the Prime Minister. <br/> <br/>Sheikh Hasina's Counsel Fazle Noor Taposh told reporters that the case was filed to belittle her and the court ruled that nobody should file such cases with ulterior motives.<br/><br/>
