B'desh garment industry workers strike turns violent; 50 injured <br/>

The garment industry in Bangladesh is facing more turmoil as workers are demanding higher wages. There have been clashes with the riot police. About two hundred factories were shut down and at least fifty people injured over the past two days of labour unrest. Garment industry&apos;s 40 lakh workers have turned down the proposal for the 75 per cent hike in wages. Thousands of angry workers took to the streets in the industrial belt near Dhaka yesterday hurling stones and attacking factory owners. Riot police fired teargas shells and rubber bullets to disperse the protesters.
