Bangladesh has been elected as a member of the Executive board of the United Nation’s Development Programme. Bangladesh was elected from the Asian group as a member of the UNDP executive board for three years. The poll for electing the executive board members was held on Wednesday at the UN Head quarters in New York. According to a press release issued by the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to UN in New York, Bangladesh received 39 votes from the 53 member countries of the Economic and Social Council. The executive board is the policy formulating body for the management of the various programmes and activities of the United Nation’s Development Programme in various countries. The tenure of Bangladesh and other countries elected to the board in this poll will be from 2011 to 2013.
