A Bangladesh court on Thursday sentenced Arafat Rahman Koko who is the younger son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to six years in jail in a money laundering case. Koko and his associate Ismail Hossain Simon, son of former BNP shipping minister late Akbar Hossain were accused of illegally transferring to Singapore funds worth 2.66 million US dollars taken as bribe from two foreign private companies. Delivering the verdict in the case Judge Mohammad Mozammel Hossain found both the accused guilty of the charges and sentenced them to six years imprisonment and also imposed a fine of 2.53 million US dollars. The judgment was delivered in the absence of both the accused.
