B'desh announces humanitarian aid worth US $2 million to provide relief to Pak flood victims

Bangladesh today announced humanitarian aid worth two million US Dollars to provide relief to the flood affected victims of Pakistan.According to the Ministry of Foreign affairs, the aid is an expression of Bangladesh's solidarity with the people of Pakistan.The relief assistance which will be provided by Bangladesh will include tents, blankets, water purification tablets, mineral water, life-saving medicines, vaccines, oral saline, hygiene kits in addition to biscuits and packed dry food. The Bangladesh government has also decided to send a medical team to Pakistan to help in the treatment of flood affected victims. Earlier, in a condolence message addressed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had expressed her deep sympathy to the Government and the people of Pakistan on one of the worst human tragedy in that country in recent times. According to the Federal Flood Commission of Pakistan at least 1,540 persons have lost their lives and more than two thousand people have been injured due to the devastating floods across the country so far. In addition to this more than five lakh fifty thousand houses have been destroyed or partially damaged and more than sixty three lakh persons have been affected across Pakistan due to the devastating floods.
