BCCI to file affidavit in Supreme Court on Lodha Report

The Board for Cricket Control in India ( BCCI) today unanimously decided to file an affidavit in the Supreme Court pointing out the anomalies and difficulties and clearing its stand in implementing the Justice Lodha Committee recommendations on the restructuring of the cricket board. The Supreme Court would hear the matter on March 3.<br/><br/>It was decided in the Special General Meeting of the BCCI today that secretary Anurag Thakur will file an affidavit on behalf of the BCCI in the apex court pointing out the anomalies and difficulties encountered in implementation of Justice Lodha Committee recommendations. <br/><br/>It is learned that the BCCI might raise objections on some recommendations in the affidavit which would including, 'One state One Vote rule, using cricket stadiums for other sports in during off-season, and having advertisement breaks only during lunch or tea in international matches among others. <br/><br/>The BCCI today also told the state associations that they can file affidavit separately on the difficulties they faced due to the recommendations. The BCCI Working Committee also authorized the President Shashank Mahohar and Secretary Anurag Thakur to appoint an agency to search for candidates for the posts of CEO and CFO for the BCCI, as one of the reforms suggested by the SC appointed committee.

BCCI to file affidavit in Supreme Court on Lodha Report

In its Special General Meeting held at Cricket Centre in Mumbai today, the members of Board for Cricket Control in India have unanimously authorized its Secretary Mr. Anurag Thakur to file an affidavit in the Supreme Court on the anomalies and difficulties encountered in implementation of Justice Lodha Committee's recommendations. <br/><br/>The three-member Lodha panel had on January 4, submitted its report on the functioning of the BCCI to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had set March 3 as a deadline for BCCI to clarify its stand on the implementation of various recommendations suggested by Lodha Committee.<br/><br/>Among other decisions taken today's SGM, the BCCI members have authorized the BCCI President Mr. Shashank Manohar and BCCI Secretary Mr. Anurag Thakur to discuss the governance and financial restructuring of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Also to rework the FTPs for the period 2016 to 2023 and ensure equitable distribution of the matches. <br/><br/>In another decision taken today, the members of BCCI approved the recommendation of the affiliation committee of BCCI to grant full member status to Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh. With this approval Chhattisgarh Cricket organisation would be a part of the Central Zone for all the BCCI tournaments.
