The International Cricket Council, ICC Board has strongly backed the principles related to future structure, governance and financial models of the apex cricket body of the world. The board in its meeting in Dubai yesterday decided that the Board for Control of Cricket in India, BCCI would assume a central leadership responsibility.A BCCI representative will chair the ICC Board from June 2014 onwards for a period of two years. He will lead a five member committee including the representatives of Cricket Australia, CA , the English Cricket Board ,ECB and two other members from within the board.A new company will be set up to tender future commercial rights for ICC events.There will be three major ICC events in each four-year cycle, including the ICC Champions Trophy which will replace the ICC World Test Championship. The meeting decided that all Members can play all formats of cricket on merit.ICC President Alan Isaac welcomed the decisions and said the measures would help expansion of the game of cricket and emphasize the primacy of Test cricket. He added that for the first time in cricket's history, participation will be based entirely on merit , giving incentives to everyone play better cricket and develop better cricketers.
