Sports Minister Ajay Maken has said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI should go into the root cause of the spot-fixing scandal that rocked IPL cricket. Mr Maken told reporters in New Delhi today that the BCCI should distance itself from running the IPL to avoid overlapping of interests. The Sports Minister also favoured the BCCI being brought under the RTI to bring about much-needed credibility. Mr Maken suggested that politicians should keep away from running sports bodies. His comments come in the backdrop of a TV sting operation which led to the suspension of five IPL players for alleged involvement in spot-fixing.
