The BCCI today named Ravi Shastri as the new chief coach of the Indian cricket team till ICC World Cup 2019 with former fast bowling great Zaheer Khan being appointed the bowling coach for a period of two years. Former Indian Captain Rahul Dravid has appointed as batting consultant for specific overseas tours. It will be third stint with the national team for Shastri, who was earlier a Cricket Manager during 2007 tour of Bangladesh and then Team Director from August 2014 to June 2016 during which India reached the semi-finals of 2015 World Cup and World T20 semi-finals in 2016. Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team has been without a head coach after Anil Kumble resigned from the post after the ICC? Champions Trophy 2017.
