BCCI meeting uderway in mumbai

After adjourning its Meeting yesterday, the Special General meeting of BCCI is underway in Mumbai. The SGM is to consider adoption of sweeping reforms in BCCI suggested by the Justice Lodha Committee, most of which have been upheld by the Supreme Court. The meeting commenced today after 12 noon. Lack of proper authorisation letters or complete absence of such documents from several representatives of its affiliated units forced the BCCI to adjourn its Special General Meeting convened in Mumbai yesterday. The under-fire BCCI , officially missed their 30 September deadline to implement the Lodha panel recommendations.Citing the violations by BCCI, the Lodha committee sought directions from the apex court to supersede the present BCCI office-Bearers with immediate effect and appoint in their place a Panel of Administrators to ensure the smooth transition from the old to the new system recommended by the committee. The Supreme Court warned the cricket board on Wednesday to either fall in line or face the consequences if it fails to implement the reforms suggested by the Lodha panel. Meanwhile, the BCCI has announced a massive hike in the salary of its Test cricketers, more than doubling their per match pay from rupees seven lakhs to a whopping Rs 15 lakhs. The annual subsidy for its full member associations has also seen a jump of Rs 10 crore from the current subsidy of Rs 60 crore.
