BCCI announces 2015-16 players contract list; Suresh Raina slips to Group B<br/>

The BCCI announced the men&apos;s and women&apos;s cricket player contracts for 2015-16 in Mumbai today. Compared to last season when 32 players were given the men&apos;s player contracts, this season only 26 players were engaged. Indian limited-overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was retained in Group A of the contract worth Rs 1 crore per annum. The other players who were included in the top-level contract were Test captain Virat Kohli, leading off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who has been upgraded from Group B. Slipping down to B category, worth Rs 50 lakh annually, was all rounder Suresh Raina. Among others included in B category are Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan.Senior off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who was not in the contracted player-list last season, gained a spot in Grade C worth Rs 25 lakh per annum after being recalled to the Indian squad by the national selectors. Others in Grade C include Amit Mishra and Ravindra Jadeja. For the first time, the BCCI offered contracts to women players, splitting them into two groups A and B. Eleven players made the grade. A group is worth Rs 15 lakh while B group Rs 10 lakh annually. Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami are among the four women players included in grade A.
