BBMS decides to fill Bhakhra Dam reservoir up to 1680 feet

The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has decided to fill Bhakhra Dam reservoir, Gobind Sagar up to 1680 feet by 10th of next month. BBMB authorities in a meeting with the partner states said that release of extra water would continue as it had already been decided that level of water would not be allowed to increase beyond a foot in a day. At present water level is more than 1674 feet.Meanwhile, inflow of water from the catchments areas has reduced. As a result, now less water is being released from the flood gates of the dam. People living around Satluj River in Punjab felt a relief as threat of flood had now reduced. Earlier release was between 70,000 to 90,000 cusecs but now it has reduced to only 55,000 to 60,000 cusecs.
