The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has decided to fill Bhakhra Dam reservoir, Gobind Sagar up to 1680 feet by 10th of next month. BBMB authorities in a meeting with the partner states said that release of extra water would continue as it had already been decided that level of water would not be allowed to increase beyond a foot in a day. At present water level is more than 1674 feet.Meanwhile, inflow of water from the catchments areas has reduced. As a result, now less water is being released from the flood gates of the dam. People living around Satluj River in Punjab felt a relief as threat of flood had now reduced. Earlier release was between 70,000 to 90,000 cusecs but now it has reduced to only 55,000 to 60,000 cusecs.
