The Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor on Friday said the process to provide night vision capabilities to battle tanks for warfare in darkness is in progress. He told reporters in New Delhi on the occasion of Army day that, the projects are already in the pipeline for acquiring night vision war fare capability possessed by some of our adversaries.<br/><br/>Gen Kapoor said it takes at least three to four years and some of the projects are likely to fructify by next year.<br/><br/>Referring to the ban on a Singapore-based company after its name figured in a CBI probe against former Ordnance Factory Board Chief Sudipto Ghosh, Mr. Kapoor said the Defence Ministry had recently decided to allow the Artillery trials, pending a decision on awarding of the contract till the case in the court is over.<br/><br/>The President, Prime Minister, Defence minister and the Army chief have greeted the forces on the army day.<br/><br/>Earlier, glowing tributes were paid to solidiers who laid down their lives in the service of the nation, at the Amar Jawan Joyti Friday morning. The Army Chief General Deepak Kappor took the salute at an impressive parade in New Delhi.<br/><br/>In her message, Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil exuded confidence that the Indian Army will continue to take on challenges with the zeal and bravery it has displayed so far. Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh in his message said the Army will prove its metal in defending the nation against the threats to its security as has been in the past.<br/><br/>He said the Army is at the fore front of war on terrorism and has reacted promptly to the natural calamities apart from earning a name for the country in overseas assignments.<br/><br/>Defence Minister, A.K. Antony expressed confidence that the army will successfully overcome the challenges posed by the terrorism besides continuing its pro active role in bringing together the people for the nation.<br/>
