Battle lines have been drawn for tomorrow’s poll for the 68-member Himachal Assembly. In the elections the political fate of heavyweights from Congress and BJP including Virbhadra Singh and Prem Kumar Dhumal .
In all, 459 candidates are in the fray for Sunday’s elections, 34 of them are women. Polling parties have reached at all the 7,253 polling stations including the highest polling station in Hikkim in Lahaul and Spiti at a height of over 15,000 feet. Polling will start at 8.00 in the morning and will continue till 5.00 pm.
Counting of votes will be held on December 20th. In the 2007 poll, BJP had won 41 as against Congress’ 23, while the Independents had won 3 and BSP just one seat. 84-year-old Senior Congress leader Vidya Stokes of the Congress is the oldest candidate in the race .
