Bashir held guilty of funding a terrorist training camp in Indonesia

The radical Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Bashir has been found guilty of funding a terrorist training camp in the Indonesian province of Aceh. The Judges handed down the verdict to the courthouse in Jakarta today. He has been sentenced to 15 years in jail. Prosecutors had asked for a life sentence. Thousands of policemen are patrolling the streets of the capital Jakarta in anticipation of a violent response to the verdict. The 72-year-old is believed to be responsible for inspiring the Bali bombings which claimed the lives of 202 people, including 88 Australians, in 2002.
