US President Barack Obama has announced a wide-ranging partnership agreement with Indonesia. He was speaking at a joint news conference with the Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Jakarta. A key element of the plan, said Obama, was for stronger trading and security ties. He said the third element in the partnership is deepening our political and security cooperation. He said the two countries already enjoy strong cooperating in combating terrorism and preventing piracy. The visit to Indonesia which has been postponed twice is of personal significant to Obama, as he spent part of his childhood there.
