Banned ULFA declares ceasefire for indefinite period

The banned United Liberation Front of Assam, ULFA, today declared unilateral ceasefire for an indefinite period with a view to create a conducive atmosphere for political dialogue to settle their issues with the government.In an e-mailed statement to media in Guwahati today, the outfit ‘Chairman’ Arabinda Rajkhowa said the ceasefire will be effective with immediate effect and it will be binding on all cadres of the outfit. Rajkhowa said the ceasefire has been declared in accordance with the decision of the 5th general council of the outfit held on February 22 this year.
