Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has said that the banking sector in the country has achieved tremendous growth in the last ten years under the UPA rule. Persons Speaking on the occasion of the 103rd Foundation Day of public sector Central bank of India at Madurai Tamil Nadu today, he said there are one lakh 10,000 bank branches all over the country now. The Minister said that every year 6,000 to 7,000 new bank branches are opened and this year 10,000 bank branches will be opened. This will result in job opportunities for 50,000 he added. Mr Chidambaram said that fruits of expansion of the banking sector are reaching people and praised the employees for their contribution.
