Banking operations hit for second day as PSB employees continue strike

Normal banking operations are affected for the second day today as public sector bank employees continued their strike. It, is however, business as usual at private sector banks. The All India State Bank Backward Classes Staff Union and State Bank SC/ST Staff Welfare Council are not participating in the strike.A release issued in New Delhi by the Chief General Secretary of the All India State Bank Backward Classes Staff Union says the demands and issues raised by the trade unions should be resolved through amicable negotiations.
The bank strike is part of a two-day nationwide strike call given 11 central trade unions to press for wage hike in the back drop of rising inflation.

Bank services were hit across Mumbai as the two-day nationwide bandh called by 11 central trade unions entered the second day today. Most ATMs have dried up causing a lot of inconveniences to the common people.The strike witnessed almost 100 per cent participation by employees from banking and insurance sector in the financial hub.
