Normal banking operations are affected for the second day today as public sector bank employees continued their strike. It, is however, business as usual at privates sector banks. The All India State Bank Backward Classes Staff Union and State Bank SC/ST Staff Welfare Council are not participating in the strike.A release issued in New Delhi by the Chief General Secretary of the All India State Bank Backward Classes Staff Union says the demands and issues raised by the trade unions should be resolved through amicable negotiations.
The bank strike is part of a two-day nationwide strike call given 11 central trade unions to press for wage hike in the back drop of rising inflation.
