Hosts Bangladesh won the first qualifying Group A match of the World Twenty20 against Afghanistan by 9 wickets at Mirpur. Chasing a paltry victory target of 73 set by Afghanistan, Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque put up 45 before Tamim fell lbw for 21. Bangladesh scored 78 for 1 in 12 of the 20 stipulated overs. Anamul Haque on 44 and Shakib Al Hasan with 10 remained unbeaten. Earlier, sent into bat, Afghanistan were all out for 72 in 11.1 overs. The next group A qualifier match is slated today between Hong Kong and Nepal at Chittagong at 7 p.m..
