Bangladesh will welcome foreign observers during general Elections: CEC Awal

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;">Bangladesh will liberally welcome foreign observers during the national elections of Bangladesh expected to be held towards the end of 2023 or January 2024, said Bangladesh Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal.<br />''<br />'' Addressing the media in Dhaka on Wednesday,  Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that those who are interested to come to Bangladesh must get the visa. <br />''<br />''He said that the Election Commission believes that the government wants fair elections. He expressed the hope that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Home Ministry will cooperate with the Election Commission to this end, reports the official news agency BSS.<br />'' <br />''Replying to a question about the participation of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia's chance to participate in the elections, CEC Awal said that the decision in this regard will be taken after examining the legal angles involved. <br />''Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is currently serving jail sentence on corruption charges but granted temporary remission on health grounds.</span><br />
