<span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;">The US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas called on Chief Election Commissioner of Bangladesh Kazi Habibul Awal in Dhaka on Wednesday. <br />''<br />''After the meeting, the US Embassy in Dhaka quoted Ambassador Haas saying that free and fair elections are the responsibility of the government, all political parties, the security forces, the media, NGOs, the Election Commission and every Bangladeshi. <br />''<br />''Speaking to the media after meeting CEC Awal, Ambassador Haas said that the US does not care who wins the election, reports UNB. The US just wants an election where the people of Bangladesh can choose their leaders, said Peter Haas. He said that the Election Commission plays an extremely important role in the election process to ensure that free and fair elections are held consistent with international standards. <br />''<br />''Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal termed the meeting as a courtesy call. He told the media that the Election Commission will make every effort to hold a fair and participatory election. He said CCTV cameras will be installed at polling stations to strengthen surveillance. CEC Awal said  that the next general elections in Bangladesh will be much more transparent than before. </span><br />
