Bangladesh underscores need for economic component in the Indo-Pacific Strategy with US

<span style="color: black;">Bangladesh has underscored the need for having an economic component in the Indo-pacific strategy (IPS), said a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Bangladesh after the 8th round of Annual Partnership Dialogue held between Bangladesh and the US in Dhaka on Sunday. In response, the US side said that  an Economic Framework of the IPS would be released soon. The two governments agreed to continue to cooperate closely to advance a shared vision of a free, open, inclusive, peaceful, and secure Indo-Pacific region.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Bangladesh and the US reaffirmed their commitment to enduring partnership, highlighting close cooperation on security, development, humanitarian assistance, and counterterrorism. Both sides also exchanged ideas on important issues of bilateral, regional, and global interest and concern, including the current situation in Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Palestine, said the press-release issued by the MoFA.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">During the talks, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen reiterated Bangladesh's strong commitment to upholding all kinds of civil and political rights of the people.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Bangladesh underscored the need to diversify the US investment in Bangladesh. Foreign Secretary Momen called upon the US side to consider the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) facility for Bangladeshi Readymade Garments (RMG) exports. Both sides also expressed interest to bolster security and defence cooperation as well as <br />''maritime cooperation.</span>
