At least three Islamic militants blew themselves today in Bangladesh when police raided their hideout outside the port city of Chittagong as part of an intensified crackdown on militants. The gunfight began after police stormed a two-storey building where militants were staying as tenants.<br/><br/>The extremists, believed to be operatives of banned Neo-Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), hurled grenades and fired gunshots before blowing themselves up. Two policemen were also injured during the raid.<br/><br/>Earlier last evening, police had arrested a couple with arms and explosives from another hideout located in Amirabad area of Chittagong, after receiving a tip-off from the building's owner. Police sources said from information extracted from the arrested couple, they mounted the attack in the Sitakunda hideout resulting in the death of the 3 terrorists.
