Bangladesh and Turkey have decided to work towards enhancing bilateral trade to one billion US Dollars. Addressing a joint press conference in Dhaka after meeting Bangladesh President Zillur Rehman, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said the trade volume between Bangladesh and Turkey is about 600 million dollar, which can be raised to the mark of one billion US Dollars by expanding trade and investment. Mr. Gul said he would soon direct the Turkish airlines to link Dhaka with Turkey by direct flights. The Bangladesh President sought Turkey's assistance in the areas of river dredging, energy, ship building, information technology, tourism and agro-based industries in Bangladesh. He also hosted a banquet in honour of the visiting Turkish President Abdullah Gul who will also hold talks with Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina during his two day stay in Dacca and meet Leader of Opposition Khaleda Zia.
