Bangladesh to send women police personnel for deployment in UN Peace Keeping Force

Bangladesh will be soon sending a team of women police personnel for deployment in UN Peace keeping operations. Inaugurating the third meeting of the Doctrine Development Group for UN Formed Police Units in Dhaka today , Home Minister Sahara Khatun said Bangladesh has already formed a female Formed Police Unit which will be deployed in United Nation field missions. She said the decision to deploy the female FPU reflects the contribution as well as determination of Bangladesh commitment to International peace and security. A total of 6,203 policemen including 1,599 officers from Bangladesh are now working in different UN peacekeeping missions The five day conference of the Doctrine development group is being attended by 52 police officers from 35 countries. The objective of the meeting is to finalize the standardized UN Formed police units Pre-Deployment Training curriculum as well as FPU equipment. The first meeting of DDG was held in Italy in 2008, while the second meeting was held in New York in 2009.
