<span style="color: black;">The government of Bangladesh will provide tax incentives to the companies which hire transgender people. Presenting the 50th annual budget for the Financial Year 2021-22, Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal announced in parliament that in order to provide employment and ensure the socio-economic integration of the third gender, special tax incentives are proposed in the budget. He said that the third gender is lagging behind and social inclusion can be ensured by integrating them in the production oriented works.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: black;">According to the budget proposals, companies which employ more than 100 third gender people or 10 percent of the total work force will get a 5 percent tax rebate or refund of 75 percent of the transgender employee's salary, whichever is lower.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: black;">Organisations working for the third gender welcomed the announcement but urged the government that the proposals should be implemented properly.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: black;">The Government of Bangladesh allowed people to register themselves as third gender in 2013.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: black;">According to official estimates the number of transgender people in Bangladesh is between 10,000-11,000 though organisations working for their rights claim that the numbers could be much larger.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: black;">Earlier, in March Tashnuva Anan became the first transgender news reader on a private TV network in Bangladesh. In November a madrasa for transgender people was opened in Dhaka.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: black;">Like in most other countries, in Bangladesh also, the transgender people face acute social discrimination often resorting to begging and sex trade to survive.</span><br />'' &nbsp;<br />
