Bangladesh to honour 50 foreign nationals, organizations on its I-Day

The Bangladesh government has decided to honour 50 distinguished foreign nationals and organizations on the 40th anniversary of the country’s Independence on March 26 this year. The proposal was approved at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka on Monday. Bangladesh Prime Minister’s Press secretary Abul Kalam Azad told reporters after the cabinet meeting that list of people who will be honoured includes heads of states and government and eminent personalities in addition to international organizations which helped in Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971. The government had set up a national committee headed by Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni to draw up the list of the people to be honoured.
