Bangladesh to draft changes in Constitution

<br/>The Bangladesh Government has decided to form an All Party Parliamentary Committee in the next few days to prepare a draft of amendments to the Constitution in light of the Supreme Court verdict endorsing the High Court’s ruling that the fifth amendment was unconstitutional and illegal.<br/><br/>This was disclosed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday while addressing a meeting of the Awami League Central committee at Ganobhavan, her official residence in Dhaka. She said the committee will be formed during the current session of Parliament.<br/><br/>Earlier in February this year, the Supreme Court had upheld the High Court verdict, which declared the regimes of Khandaker Mushtaque Ahmed, Abu Sada’t Mohammad Sayem, and Maj Gen Ziaur Rahman between August 15, 1975 and April 9, 1979 as illegal.<br/>
