Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets in the third and final ODI at Dhaka last night to sweep the series, 3-0. This was Bangladesh's first series whitewash against an Asian Test-playing nation. Opting to bat at the Sher-e Bangla National Stadium, Pakistan were bundled out for 250 in 49 overs. Skipper Azhar Ali scored a century in the total. He made 101, while Haris Sohail scored 52.Chasing 251 for victory, the hosts easily overhauled the target with more than 10 overs to spare. Opener Soumya Sarkar, who scored an unbeaten 127, his maiden ODI ton, led the run chase. He shared 145 runs for the opening wicket with Tamim Iqbal who made 64. Mushfiqur Rahim also chipped in with 49 at the end to help Bangladesh reach the target with ease.Soumya Sarkar was named man of the match, while the man of the series award went to Tamim Iqbal. Both teams will now play a T-20 match at Mirpur tomorrow. It will be followed by a 2-match Test series which will begin on Tuesday.
