Bangladesh reported the second highest single day COVID 19 infection in the country on Thursday even as the government lowered the vaccination age to 25 years in the country. A total of 15,271 new Corona positive cases were detected on Thursday taking the total number of infected people to over 12.26 lakh. The number of active cases in the country was recorded to be 1.55 lakh. 239 people succumbed to COVID 19 in the last 24 hours on Thursday taking the death toll to 20,255. The sample positivity rate declined slightly to 29.21 percent from 30.12 percent on Wednesday.<br />'' <br />'' Bangladesh entered the 7th day of the strict lockdown on Thursday. The police detained 568 people in Dhaka for defying the COVID restrictions. So far, 3624 people have been detained in Dhaka for violating the lockdown restriction. However, the number of vehicles and people on the road has increased gradually since Tuesday after a very strict enforcement of lockdown during the first four days of the lockdown.<br />'' <br />'' The government has further lowered the minimum age for vaccination from 30 to 25. Earlier, on July 19, the minimum age was reduced from 35 to 30. Government has announced that soon people above the age of 18 will be allowed to get vaccinated as more vaccines become available in Bangladesh.<br />
