Bangladesh reduces the minimum age for COVID booster vaccine to 50

The government of Bangladesh has reduced the minimum age for getting the COVID 19 booster from 60 years to 50 years. Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved the proposal. The Minister said that the country has sufficient doses of the vaccine in stock to provide the booster doses to more people. He said 7 lakh booster doses have been administered in the country so far.<br />''<br />''Those who have received the second dose at least six months ago are eligible for the third shot.<br />''<br />''Health Minister Maleque said that the government is concerned about the rise in the COVID cases in the country. He urged people to follow the 11-point restrictions imposed by the government on Jan. 13 to control the spread of the country.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, Bangladesh reported 5222 new cases in a single day on Sunday. The sample positivity rate also jumped up to 17.82 percent marking a significant rise from  14.35 percent on Saturday.<br />
