Bangladesh records lowest daily COVID death in over 6 months

<span style="color: #222222;">The daily death toll due to COVID 19 in Bangladesh fell to over 6 month low with 12 deaths being reported on Thursday.  The lowest death toll in a day was earlier reported on March 17 when the country had recorded 11 deaths. The death toll due to COVID has gone up to 27,647.<br />''<br />''According to the latest data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS),  663 new cases were recorded in the country on Thursday. The sample positivity rate stood at 2.97 percent marking over two weeks of below 5 percent sample positivity in the country. The recovery rate has gone up to 97.50 percent.<br />''<br />''Vaccination programme in Bangladesh is also moving ahead with the country receiving vaccines from various sources. It  received 2.5 million doses of Pfizer vaccines from the US on Wednesday as a gift under the COVAX programme of the WHO. Before this consignment, the US had already given over 11 million doses of vaccine to Bangladesh.<br />''<br />''Bangladesh has provided the first dose of vaccine to over 35.39 million people in the country till Wednesday. More than 17.62 million people have received both the doses of the vaccine till now.</span><br />
