Bangladesh ready made garment factories decide to reopen all units

<br/>In Bangladesh, the owners of Ready made garment factories have decided to reopen all closed garment factories in Ashulia and Savar from Wednesday. The owners had decided to shutdown the factories following violent protests by workers demanding a hike in their minimum pay. <br/> <br/>The President of Bangladesh Garment Manufactures and Exporters Association Mr. Abdus Salam Murshedy told reporters on Tuesday night after a meeting of BGMEA officials, garment factory owners and local parliamentarians that the owners have decided to reopen the factories as the government and law enforcing agencies assured them of ensuring peaceful environment in the garment manufacturing units. <br/> <br/>Earlier on Tuesday the Bangladesh Labour and Employment Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain warned that any person who tries to violate the law and order situation in the country will have to face tough action. <br/> <br/>The minister reviewed the situation following two days of violent worker’s protest in Ashulia at a two hour long meeting with representatives of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers association, Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of commerce and Industry and workers at his ministry. <br/> <br/>Talking to reporters after the meeting he said the government has already taken up an initiative to announce an acceptable wage-scale for the workers. He said a tripartite committee was formed with the government representatives, owners and workers on April 28th to work on the salary structure and the government hopes to present an acceptable salary structure by July 28 following the recommendations of the committee.<br/>
