Bangladesh: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina confers National Film Awards 2020 in Dhaka

<span style="color: #000000;">Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina conferred the National Film Awards 2020 winners at a function held in Dhaka on Wednesday. Joining in the event as Chief Guest, virtually from her official residence, Prime Minister Hasina gave away the award to 32 winners in 27 categories. It is the highest recognition to the persons associated with the film industry in Bangladesh. Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud handed over the awards on her behalf. The awards were announced on 15 February this year.<br />''<br />''Gor (The Grave) and Bishwoshundori jointly won the award for the best film for the year 2020. Gazi Rakayet directed film Gor (The Grave) won awards in ten categories while Chayankika Chowdhury's directorial debut film Bishwoshundori won awards in 8 categories. Gor is the first English language feature film of Bangladesh. Director and lead actor of the film Rakayet also received the 'best film director' award.<br />''<br />''Gor is a poignant story of a grave digger struggling with the loss of his daughter and searching for a way to go to heaven by digging 100 graves. Bishwoshundori is a romantic film about humanity and the triumph of life.<br />''<br />''Veteran Bangladeshi film actress Anwara Begum and renowned actor, radio artist, film, and Television personality Raisul Islam Asad have been selected for the Life Time Achievement Award.<br />''<br />''Siam Ahmed has been given the award for Best Actor in the lead role (male) for the film Bishwoshundori while Deepanwita Martin has been awarded as the Best Actor in the lead role (female) award for Gor.<br />''<br />''The best singer award went to Md. Mahmudul Haque Imran (film 'Bishwoshundori'), while Dilshad Nahar Kona and Somnur Monir Konal jointly got the best female singer awards for their songs in 'Bishwoshundori' and 'Bir' films.<br />''<br />''Documentary 'Bangabandhur Rajnoitik Jibon o Bangladesher Obbhyudoy' directed by Syed Ashique Rahman, was awarded in the best documentary category.
