Bangladesh : Prime Minister Hasina opens 50 new model mosques, calls upon Islamic scholars to speak against militancy

<span style="color: black;">Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the Islamic scholars including Alim, Ulema and Khatib to speak out against militancy, drugs, corruption and women repression in their sermon in the mosque. Inaugurating the 50 new model mosques in the country on Monday, she said people respect mosque authorities and Islamic scholars and so their words have importance for the people. <br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">She called upon the religious scholars to properly teach the children about Islam so that they don't get involved with terrorism. Calling Islam a religion of peace, Prime Minister Hasina said people engaging in terrorism and militancy tarnish the name of Islam. She said that it is against Islam to attack people of other religions or other sects of Islam. She said Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony and we must be  tolerant towards other religions. Prime Minister Hasina said everyone is allowed to practise their religious rituals and everyone has an equal right in Bangladesh. <br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">With the inauguration of the 50 new model mosques, Prime Minister Hasina has inaugurated a total of 200 such mosques in the country. The government plans to establish 564 model mosques by June next year at an estimated cost of Taka 9435 crore. She had earlier inaugurated 50 mosques each in June 2021, January and March this year.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">The purpose of the project is to disseminate the essence of Islam against extremism and militancy as the religion never supports those, reports the official news agency BSS. </span><br />
