Bangladesh: President calls to forget hatred & spread joy of Eid among all as country celebrates Eid-al-Adha amid rain

The second largest festival of Muslims in Bangladesh, Eid-al- Adha, is being celebrated across the country despite rain lashing several parts of the country since last night. President Mohammed Shahabuddin, who is currently on Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, in his message urged the country's affluent people to come forward and stand by the poor and underprivileged people of the society to make the festival a joyful occasion. He also called upon people to forget hatred and spread the joy of Eid among all.<br />''<br />''Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon all to devote themselves for the welfare of the humankind, being imbued with the spirit of sacrifice of the Eid-Ul-Adha. <br />''<br />''In her message, Sheikh Hasina urged people to devote themselves for the welfare of mankind and share the joy by maintaining the tie of amity and brotherhood. Eid Jamaats were held across the country in mosques and maidans where Muslims offered prayers for peace and harmony at home and abroad. In Dhaka, the main Eid congregation was held at the National Eidgah which started at 7 a.m. in the morning despite heavy downpour. Several jamaats were held at the Baitul Mukarram national mosque also. However, the presence of people during the congregation was lower compared to other years due to rain.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Bangladesh's biggest two congregations were held at the Gor-e-Shaheed Baro Maidan in Dinajpur and Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj where several lakh people took part in the prayers.</span>
