Bangladesh Police raid headquarters of banned Islamic outfit

In Bangladesh, the Dhaka Police today conducted a raid at the headquarters of the banned Islamic outfit Hizb ut Tahrir in the city. Deputy police commissioner of Motijheel zone Mahid Uddin said the police seized a computer, books, posters, files, a cabinet and a video camera from the banned outfit's head office in Purana Paltan area of Dhaka city. The hard disk of the computer was however missing. The government has also frozen the bank accounts of Hizb ut-Tahrir and also blocked the website of the organisation. The Bangladesh government had banned the group on Thursday saying the outfit was a threat to national safety. The organisation has already been banned in a number of countries, including Turkey because of their alleged involvement with terrorist activities.
