Exchanging greetings with members of the Hindu Community at Dhakeshwari temple on Tuesday through video conferencing, on the occasion of Mahanavami day of Durga Puja, Prime Minister Hasina sought cooperation from all to maintain communal harmony in the country. She said her government is committed to uphold the secular and non-communal character of the country.<br />''<br />''Referring to communal incidents in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina asked people not to magnify any particular incident but to look at the punitive measures taken by the government in response to such incidents. She said that whenever a communal incident takes place, her government takes steps because it wants people of all religions to perform their religious rituals equally.&nbsp;<br />''<br />''Prime Minister Hasina expressed satisfaction that people of Bangladesh celebrated every religious festival in a united way which is a unique thing.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, the Maha Navami day of Durga Puja was celebrated with joy and religious fervour in Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh on Tuesday. However, the large-scale blackout in the country in the evening due to the breakdown of national powergrid, dampened the festivity in many of the pandals in the capital city Dhaka. The number of people visiting Pandals was reduced due to the power cut which lasted several hours beginning at 2 p.m.</span><br />
